The Philippine government is bringing artificial intelligence into its digital public services with the launch of eGovAI, a new AI-powered feature integrated into the eGovPH Super App.

Launched by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on September 21, eGovAI is designed to help Filipinos access government services and information through a built-in AI assistant called “Kuya A.” The feature is available to verified eGovPH users.

AI Inside the Government Super App

According to DICT, eGovAI is intended to make government services more accessible and easier to navigate. Its built-in assistant can provide real-time support while users interact with government services.

The new feature includes tools for document extraction, image identification, translation, form understanding, and speech generation. It can also provide information related to government laws, policies, guidelines, and tourism.

The system is powered by Google Gemini, with the AI capabilities developed by DICT's own team, according to DICT Secretary Henry Aguda.

More Services in One Platform

The eGovPH Super App has been positioned as a one-stop digital platform for government services, bringing together services from national agencies and local government units.

In Palawan, for example, DICT reported 300,000 eGovPH subscribers as services expanded to include transactions with municipalities. The app also provides access to digital government IDs and allows users to access certain LGU services through the platform.

DICT has also sought additional funding to expand the eGovPH ecosystem, including improvements to cloud capacity, AI-powered services, digital business permits, and government data infrastructure.

What eGovAI Could Mean for Filipinos

With more government transactions moving online, the addition of AI could make it easier for users to understand requirements, process information, and navigate digital government services.

For users who are unfamiliar with online government platforms, an AI assistant could provide another way to find information without having to navigate multiple websites or applications.

Still, as with any digital government system, the usefulness of these tools will depend on how accurately they handle information and how effectively the platform supports users across different needs and locations.

As eGovPH continues to expand, the launch of eGovAI signals another step toward a more digitally connected government — putting AI directly into a platform already used by millions of Filipinos.
